In search of a housemate to join our group house! We are four women and two men in our mid twenties living in a chill seven-person communal co-op home in a beautiful newly remodeled large home close to the Petworth metro station. The ideal move-in date is in September.

COMMUNITY:
We see ourselves as a cooperative, intentional, and caring community. All of us have lived cooperatively before and are looking for folks who are enthusiastic about living together communally. We each cook a meal for the house once a week and hold house meetings to bond, talk chores, and plan events. We value open communication and having lots of fun together. We also have a hypoallergenic cat!

We are an interreligious household focused on overall community and building bridges across groups, with one Christian (Sonya), one Jewish person (Channah), and various spiritual / non-religious individuals.

HOUSE:
We’re in Park View/Petworth, a 3-minute walk from the Georgia Ave-Petworth Metro stop, a couple blocks from Safeway, as well as plenty of fun coffee shops, bars, and restaurants. We have central air and heat, a washer and dryer, a yard with raised beds, and a shared bike room. No reserved parking included but street parking is easily found with a permit.

ROOM:
The room is on the main floor and was previously the sun room. The bathroom is also the common space bathroom. This room gets the most natural sunlight but is also naturally noisier, given the proximity to the kitchen. Rent is $1,010 a month, plus utilities and a security deposit.

Utilities are typically ~$80-100 / month and additional shared costs (e.g., house decor, common toilet paper, etc.) are typically ~$50 / month, with some fluctuations for special events or seasons.

ABOUT US:
Sonya (she/her, 26yo, E/INFJ) is on the strategy team at the Gates Foundation. She splits her time between Seattle and DC (across two different co-houses!), and she loves long walks, hiking, art (mostly calligraphy and watercolor, but she recently started ceramics), reading, trying new recipes, and enjoying food with other people.

Kevin (he/him, 25yo, straight) works in emerging technology / AI policy. He loves cooperative living, cooking & baking, board games (all kinds but especially strategy games), going for contemplative/thoughtful walks, backpacking/hiking/camping, grappling with difficult questions, and learning things he didn’t know before. And cats!

Channah (she/her, 27yo, lesbian) is a medical student patient about primary care and sexual health. She enjoys watching movies, reading, laying in grass, tending to the garden, and playing guitar.

Annie (she/her, 28yo, queer) is originally from a small town in Upstate NY and attended college in Minnesota before moving to DC and starting work at a DC-based environmental non-profit in September 2021. She enjoys biking, knitting, reading, baking, and attempting to grow vegetables with housemates.

Maddy (she/her, 28yo, lesbian) is an urban planner at an engineering/architecture firm who enjoys bouldering, bike rides, paper crafting, and flag football.

A communicative and collaborative housemate enthusiastic about contributing to a warm community and building friendships. Prior co-op or intentional living experience is preferred but not required!
