Join us in our Christian women family home on a leafy street in suburban McLean, Virginia.
The idea behind this Christian home is support for Christian women: come to town, find your church, learn your commute, and develop friends. You will be much wiser about signing a full-year lease with other women after having gotten to know Washington, DC, in your first months here. We are a launch pad!
The upstairs bedroom has a lovely view, is fully furnished, and shares a bath -- two sinks, bathtub with shower -- with the owner, me, who is home about four days per month.
We are four women sharing a house; the owner, who normally lives here, works out of state. The house is a fairly large family home, and all of the main floor spaces are shared: a living room, a dining room, a family room, a powder room, the kitchen, and two refirgerators . The owner provides paper towels, toilet paper, and household supplies such as dishwasher soap, dish soap, and laundry detergent. Our housekeeper comes once per month to clean and change your bed linens. The charge for the housekeeper is included in your rent. The electric bill is shared equally among the housemates and is your only cost over and above the monthly rent. We keep a very clean house. In addition to the monthly housekeeper, housemates do lght household chores -- vacuuming some carpet, swabbing the kitchen floor, and cleaning kitchen surfaces -- once per month, on rotation.
Parking is on the street near the house. Over the years, we have had only two housemates who have not had a car. They did well, though it is hard to live in the suburbs without wheels. Our nearest metro is the silver line McLean Station, not in walking distance of the house, unless you are an intrepid walker, as these two ladies were. A metrobus comes at the top of the street, about a two minute walk. It’s a small street, only 9 houses. Behind us is a small forest, with a walking trail. The owner has used if for prayer walks for years.
The owner has provided a launch pad for Christian women for over a dozen years. We have had bridal showers, baby showers, engagement parties, and not long ago, one housemate was bridesmaid for another. This is the perfect circumstance for a young woman new to Washington, DC. Our house is a warm, friendly, safe place. Invite your Smalll Group. Invite your family and college buds. If you are driving a long way with family, they are welcome to stay a few days, of course! Your rent term is four months, but of course you may stay longer. Rent increases 5% in the second and subsequent years. Several of us have been housemates for one or two years, one longer.
We respect one another and we love the Lord!
Please call, text, or email me, the owner, Ardell Fleeson, 703 863 1359, atfleeson@cox.net. God bless you as you launch your life in 2024!
