The Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center (CHPC) is dedicated to supporting women and men facing a crisis pregnancy, including providing parent education during pregnancy, birth, and beyond; providing counseling, emotional support, and friendship; and providing tangible resources to meet the needs of families.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for their CHPC’s parenting classes that they would be supportive to families and impactful.
  • Pray for the physical protection of the building and the people at the center. In the wake of the Roe v. Wade decision, CHPC has experienced vandalism and threats.
  • Pray for new volunteers for the center.
  • Pray for a sonographer to help with ultrasounds at CHPC. If you know someone, reach out to Janet

Ways to Get Involved

Please contact CHPC directly via email or 202-546-1018 if you are interested in getting involved in any of these opportunities.

Grace Downtown has had three community groups volunteering for years every month at the Center, and while there isn’t space to properly social distance with groups, they still need help from individuals and small groups to come and fold baby clothes, organize and fold mailings for fundraising, and assist in other capacities.

Mentors/support for fathers: CHPC would like to grow its support for dads. They have offered parent education for fathers in the past and hope to reestablish this post-COVID. The need prayers for this ministry and fathers who are interested in walking alongside dads at CHPC.

Meals and/or sitting for parenting classes: Parenting classes start in October. CHPC needs folks to volunteer to bring meals and/or babysit for these classes. This does not have to be done by the same group of people each week. CG or a group of individuals could sign up for a meal, babysitting, or both. The classes are on Wednesdays at a church in Capitol Hill.

Support with projects ongoingly: CHPC will share a punch list with teams or individuals who come to help. This could look like folding baby clothes, organizing diapers, stuffing envelopes, or putting together shelving. The opportunity is flexible. Volunteers can sign up for one-time support (a CG can help on one Saturday) or ongoing support (a group of volunteers helping with tasks at the center on a weekly/monthly basis).

Material donations: CHPC is always open to supply donations (clothes, baby items/gear, diapers, formula, wipes, shoes, coats). If you have items to donate, you can drop donations at the center during their business hours
