Before Jesus ascended to heaven he instructed his followers to be witnesses not only within Israel, but also to the ends of the earth, translation: ‘I’m building a multi-racial/national church’. However, they are slow to do this, in part due to racism and unhealthy nationalism. We modern folks are no different. Our hesitation to accept people of different race, class, geographical heritage, education, etc., is evident on a regular basis. And what it reveals is our faulty understanding of the way God’s acceptance works. So, in the end, our hesitation to accept others is a spiritual problem.
