Recently I was with one of my former seminary professors. This man possesses such genuine humility, that my own self-R was apparent to me on more than one occasion. Self-Righteousness is rampant in our lives and culture. The result is a false sense of justification; a false sense of being ‘in the right’ before God and others. In the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector Jesus talks about two approaches to God–one, that involves self-righteousness leading to condemnation; the other involving mercy leading to justification
