You can’t live in Washington during an election cycle without knowing someone who is stumping for a candidate (though we rarely give stump speeches standing on a literal stump anymore). When Jesus sent out his twelve apostles to stump for him, it was stumping of a different order: Announcing a King rather than pitching a candidate.
