How do you forgive even if someone doesn't know they have wronged you? How do you forgive someone who isn't sorry? Pastor Yancie challenges us to imitate God's standard of forgiveness through our identity in Christ, especially relying on PRAYER. Only God changes hearts, and we are challenged to forgive as Christ forgave us, expecting nothing in return. Yes, this takes an immense amount of meekness and humility that can only come from God.
Who will you reach out to forgive this week?
How will you make forgiving often (keeping short accounts) a lifestyle?
Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea until they have something to forgive.
But we define justification as follows: the sinner, received into communion with Christ, is reconciled to God by his grace, while, cleansed by Christ’s blood, he obtains forgiveness of sins, and clothed with Christ’s righteousness as if it were his own, he stands confident before the heavenly judgement seat.
The prayer, ‘Forgive us our sins,’ therefore, is one in which we are relating not to God as eternal judge of the universe, but to God as a Father. It is a prayer in which we wish to restore the open fellowship with our Father that has been broken because of sin.
