Registration opens Friday, 9/11 at 5pm for GMo’s Tenth Annual Fall Retreat!

The Grace Mosaic Leadership Team and staff are looking forward to this year’s retreat to Manns Choice, PA (October 23-25). Each year the Lord uses the Fall Retreat to bless our community with spiritual nourishment, rest, and fun. Retreat registrants will receive more details in the coming weeks on what to expect, packing lists, etc. Scroll to learn more about this year’s retreat The Comfortable Words and our retreat speaker, David Plant. Be sure to register for the retreat this Friday at 5pm for the chance to win a free T-shirt designed by Grace Mosaic’s own Mary Putrasahan.

About the Retreat: The Comfortable Words

What does Jesus say to tired people? For centuries, Christians have called a handful of Jesus’ promises “the comfortable words” – not because they make us comfortable with ourselves, but because they strengthen weary people with the grace of God. This retreat will be an opportunity to slow down and listen again to some of the simplest and deepest words of the gospel: Come to me. Christ Jesus came to save sinners. We have an Advocate.

Over the weekend, we’ll consider what it means to receive Christ’s invitation to rest, to become honest about ourselves without being crushed by what we find, to trust the voice of our Advocate over the voice of accusation, and then to return to our ordinary lives renewed for faithful presence in the places God has given us.

You don’t need to arrive rested, spiritually impressive, or ready for a challenge. Come weary. These words are for you.

Meet our Speaker

David Plant is the founding and lead pastor of Storefront Church in New York City, a congregation serving the diverse communities along the High Line. Before planting Storefront, he served on staff at Redeemer Presbyterian Church. His wife, Susan Lee, also served on staff at Redeemer as an architect and now works for the City of New York at NYCHA. Together, David and Susan have spent much of their life in New York thinking about what it means to love a city, build lasting friendships, and practice a faithful Christian presence in the places God gives us. David (and Susan) also helped launch Neighbor, a community space in Chelsea shaped around hospitality, friendship, and life together. He holds both an MDiv and an MFA. They’re the parents of Pascal and have made New York City their home.
